Worth the wait!
I did it! This week, like teens across the world doing their GCSEs, A levels and other exams, I too was being assessed. Not bad for a 50+ to still be learning new things. It's never too late to learn and I plan to be a life long learner. In this case, I was learning from Heidi Armstrong of Complementary Therapy College the art of Acupressure Facial Therapy. What an amazing course, tutor and new service I can now offer to you. I booked this course over 2 years ago but due to Covid had to postpone doing it. I can't thank Heidi enough for allowing me to do her course all this time later. It could not have come at a better time for me, helping me to get ready for making in person head and facial treatment options available again this Summer 2022. Offering these services again after such a long time was nerve-racking for me. The skills are there but like a lot of people returning to something they have not done for a while, my confidence had taken a bit of a hit. So passing this meant a lot more to me than perhaps you would expect, which added to my nerves on the day of my assessment. I get it. Exam nerves are real. If you suffer from exam nerves or anxiety, you are not alone. I was 'having kittens' as my Mum would say. Building up in my head what might happen, how much I wouldn't remember, despite revising and working on willing case studies with wonderful feedback. It is so easy to focus on the negative isn't it but I got through it by using all the tricks in the book I know, helped too by Heidi's kind and patient nature and my wonderful volunteer model. Thank you both so much. If you too, sometimes have a nervous disposition when taking exams, being interviewed, assessed, or doing a presentation, then you may wish to also take a look at my blog, Exam Nerves for some hints and tips that may help you.
New Summer Service!
Throughout June 2022, I will be offering Reflexology Taster Treatments where you get to dip in and try out this new service. To book your space, head on over to Book Online and select the timeslot that you would like. Everyone who books and then books a future full hour session or more with me before September 2022 will be eligible for 20% off the usual full session price. Amazing! Please take advantage of this as I don't always run Taster Sessions, so can't tell you yet when the next ones will be and this discount is only available for a limited time over the Summer too.
So what is Acupressure Facial Therapy?
' Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses the fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's natural self-healing ability '. Source - Acupressure by Micheal Reed Gach. By combining working facial acupressure points on the face, with deep muscular and fascial release techniques, lighter lymph drainage massage and slow therapeutic touch, it's possible to tap into all the benefits of working the facial microsystem used in Chinese Medicine for acupuncture whilst still providing a blissfully relaxing Facial Treatment experience that you would expect from me. You can find out more about my other Facial Reflexology and Zone Face Lift treatment options by clicking on the links to access further blog posts.
What's the point? How can this therapy help?
The short answer is that it feels great, it's really relaxing and gives you time for yourself while having a beautiful facial massage by me, designed just for you. All my treatment options are tailored just for you. We will do a full consultation to determine how best I can help you. I will use just the right combination of luxury organic oils to best suit your skin type, so you can simply lay back in my therapy chair and enjoy the benefits of a holistic facial massage while pinpointing your therapeutic needs.
You can expect your central nervous system to calm deeply. Some clients even fall asleep in my chair they feel so deeply relaxed by the experience.
Facial, shoulder and neck muscular tension may melt away or at least reduce.
Muscular and Fascia massage helps to boost blood flow to the face and stimulate the production of collagen.
Increased blood and lymph flow increases oxygen to our skin cells and helps remove excess fluid and waste from the area, leaving you with a natural healthy glow after a treatment.
Stimulating the acupressure points and reflexes benefit the whole body.
Chronic conditions may benefit from the calming effect on the nervous system which in turn reduces the risk of contra-action to treatment.
